My name is Q (they/them) and I’m a trans non-binary Filipinx settler with Ibanag, Ilokano, and Tagalog roots. I was born on the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ but have called lək̓ʷəŋən territories home since I was young. I will have completed my BA Political Science (Hon) and Gender Studies by December 2023 and I actively participate in student advocacy, grassroots anti-racism and QTBIPOC organizing, and anti-colonial activist movements in and around lək̓ʷəŋən lands. It is my hope to attend the joint Indigenous law JD/JID program at UVic in September 2024 or 2025 while balancing birthwork.

I am interested in supporting clients as a postpartum and birth doula, especially those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. As someone from a Filipino family, I know the joys of having lots of family members around at all times. As a queer and trans person, I also know the pain of not always having loved ones understand my experience. For QTBIPOC, I believe that gender-affirming care is culturally-affirming care and vice versa. You should never have to choose between either. Every birthing person deserves non-judgemental, dignified support that honours each intersection of their identity, not fragments of it.

I also offer cooking Filipino and South/East Asian meals. I am also aware of various community food and meal initiatives for those seeking free/by-donation/low-cost meals, veggies, and/or food boxes.
